About MWRD


The date for the Democratic Primary Election is March 20, 2018. All registered voters of Cook County who choose a Democratic ballot can cast a write-in vote for Joe in the primary on March 20th.

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) is governed by a nine-member Board of Commissioners. Three Commissioners are elected every two years for six-year terms. Biannually, the Board internally elects from its membership a President, Vice President, and Chairman of the Committee on Finance.

The MWRD is a separate legal entity and is an independent government and taxing body that is located primarily within the boundaries of Cook County, Illinois. The MWRD’s service area is 883.5 square miles of Cook County, Illinois which includes the City of Chicago and 125 suburban communities.

The mission of the MWRD is to protect the health and safety of the public in its service area, to protect the quality of the water supply source (Lake Michigan), to improve the quality of water in watercourses in its service area, to protect businesses and homes from flood damages, and to manage water as a vital resource for its service area.

As a Senior Attorney for the MWRD for over five years, Joe has represented and defended the MWRD on a multitude of legal issues. Through his work at the MWRD Joe has gained invaluable insight and knowledge regarding day to day operations. Additionally Joe possesses an inherent care and concern for the health, strength and vitality of the MWRD. Being a father of three young daughters Joe is extremely motivated to continue protect the quality of our water as a Commissioner of the MWRD.
