Biography

Joe currently works as a senior attorney at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) of Greater Chicago, where he represents and defends the MWRD on a variety of legal issues. As a part of its team, Joe is invested in the long-term success and health of the MWRD, and he has gained the experience to lead its operation. Having spent his entire career in public service, he is excited for this opportunity to become a member of the Board of Commissioners at the MWRD.

Joe proudly serves as a Captain in the United States Air Force JAG Corps, where he is assigned as the Area Defense Counsel for the Illinois National Guard.

Joe’s legal career began at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (CCSAO), where he worked his way through the ranks while assigned to Criminal Appeals, the Narcotics Bureau, and the Gang Crimes Unit. Joe gained invaluable experience as a trial lawyer at the CCSAO where he prosecuted hundreds of felony trials, both jury and bench, throughout Cook County.

Community service is also integral to Joe’s personal life. He has been a volunteer coach at numerous schools, including Gordon Tech High School (now DePaul Academy) and currently serves as the president of the Holy Name Society at St. Mary of the Wood’s parish. He currently serves as the Vice President on the Board of Directors for The Tripp Healy Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on providing scholarship opportunities for underserved students.

Joe is a proud Chicagoan who has stood for leadership and community since his days growing up on the city’s Northwest side. He attended high school at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, then went on to Columbia University in New York City, where he earned a degree in history and played football. Joe completed his studies at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He and his wife Jenny have three daughters and live in Chicago’s Wildwood neighborhood.
